1960–1979 Focus on locks

In this 20-year period, locks became ASSA’s biggest product. In 1963, the locks product group became bigger than smithing or screws, and by 1970 it was bigger than all the other product groups combined.

One reason is that the company made all the car locks for both Saab and Volvo. Another is the fact that the company phased out other parts of production and specialized in locks and their accessories. In the mid-1970s, screw production was phased out, but hinges were kept – which was important in order to be a complete lock and security company.
